The things you most wanna forget.
While one batch of students have walked out of colleges armed with their degrees, another is just awaiting to begin their journey. Excitement is at its peak with competitive exams-preparation and results being on and about. EAMCET, AIEEE,BITS,VIT,IIT,NIFT... the list is endless with every possible alphabet in use! At this point, I can't but help remembering my pre-college, post-school time.
It was arguably the worst piece in my life. The complacency of school life was gone in a flash and I realised some serious stuff was going to start. I had taken a month short-term course in Eamcet and it was then that I knew why people can hate studying and why we hear of suicides prompted by poor results in exams. The pressure was on, quite tangible. You could feel it once you entered the coaching institute, sense its presence. During a maths class then, I remember staring at the board and the lecturer who was scribbling away to glory( this lecturer had a voice which made me want to scream : ). This guy spoke fast and wrote small and moved quick. That gets to you, really. After bearing hours of torturous lecture, I learned nothing whatsoever in that place, and I gave up.
And as if eamcet wasn't enough, there was BITS with a scary format of on-the-spot results. Nightmares best left forgotten ;)
After all those days of bottled-up spirit, you want to enjoy after the exams but then come the spoilers- results. Parents getting wide-eyed cause they realise all the cups of coffee they gave you during your night outs and all the extra love they showered on you because "You are working real hard, straining yourself", dindn't 'pay off'. Then, next day on, the petting stops and this is on until you land youself in a decent college.
So, after all the things we pushed through, we are here. Iare. More pushing through is what's needed! Luck to the incoming batch.

How were the exams?
Below was the open poll for us:
How well do you feel you have performed in the recent exams?
Excellent ...... really?!! - 3
Better than before-4
Not bad-8
Hmmm...When are the supplies?-7
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw 3 votes which said "Excellent" . Reminds me that we still have some studies going on inside the college ;). Keep it up guys.

For the first year buddies.
While most of us are idling away the time during hols, our first years' exams are yet to begin!
Since their term started quite late, their exams too will be commencing late i.e. from the 26th of May on.
Now guys, its the general thought that we are the most 'sober' in our first year and in consecutive semesters, you'll undergo drastic personality change ;) So, if you are nervous this time, dont worry, just put your best leg forward and go through the exams. Who knows in your upcoming sems, you'll actually miss the feeling of 'gettin scared' (though i couldn't guarantee that ;).
Here is something that could help you thru,
All in one(AIO) Does help. I know, if you are someone who depends wholly on textbooks for the exams, you'd raise your eyebrows on what i just said. But, trust me, its a smart way of winding up your preparation. Be sure to go through all the prev. years papers. Most Qs come straight out of them. The answers on the other hand can be learned from the TB, coz AIO answers suck mostly. For those desperate, AIO alone must do.
For subjects like C, skim through all units, coz they are concept-oriented.
Wish you all luck.
Chill it out take it slow, they u'll rock out the show!

Give us our Lays!
Our canteen, as we all know has the most bizzare taste for choclates and chips and other such snacks. We have got choclates which, trust me, can be found probably only in our canteen and nowhere else in the world.I mean, who has ever eaten/seen the 1 Re. choclates which are a poor imitation of diary milk. 'Bingo' must be getting all its profit from us guys, coz when we walk into the canteen, the only chips you can lay your hands on are Bingo. You got no other choice. Icecreams are pretty good, but they are the Only 'pretty good' things there, that the stock is over in a few days. So, one sunny day I cleared some of my doubts with the canteen uncle.
Self: "Uncle, Y no LAYS?? Y Bingo"?? (A good fren of mine is crazy about them, so this had to be my first Q ;)
Uncle: "Lays aithe meme balnagar velli stock teevali amma...kaani ee chips(bingo) ..vaalle college ki vacchi stock istharu."
Translation-*The lays guys don't supply it directly to the college and the canteen people havta go all the way to balnagar to replenish the stock (which we gobble down in about 2 days). *
And considering the heat and maybe fuel charges, they aren't doing it. So, option out. Understandable.Forget Lays and 'hail bingo'!
Self:" And uncle choclates we have got are either the chutku chutku ones (with really odd taste) or mars and snickers"(Which means, you either spend Re.1 or Rs.25 on any chocolate. No range int between.)
Uncle: Gives the same explanation about having to go to balnagar.
Self : "Uncle icecream stock is over since a few days. When will the icecreams come"?
Uncle: "Stock monday vasthudhi amma."(by then it was a week since icecream box was khaali. So, there you go, the stock isn't ordered according to our whims and fancies. It comes in on such-and-sucha day .Fixed mostly.)
Hands down again.
I then realised they must be having answers for all my Qs and gave up asking further :P
All this said, you wouldn' t curse the guy behind the counter soo much for not having your fav food on the menu, coz they too have their constraints. Same time i do agree, things could ofcourse get better and managed more smartly. For ex. read the convo below
(At the fruit juice counter)
Fren: Y isn't there apple juice?( long since apple juice is out of menu)
Man: aaj kal nahin laa rahen hain.
Fren: Kyun?
Man: aise hi.
Lol...what a comfortable answer! I amn't saying we can't do without 'apple juice' , but who knows what ll be compromised next! While this isn't about staging a protest against the canteen, we could do with some enlightening right?!...just so that you are prepared to take 'no' for an answer from the man behind the counter.
Now guys, if you got anymore doubts (m sure you ll have loads) go on and clear them. And yea, for any suggestions and complaints, theres a book being maintained right by the counter. Go on and fill it up :D
Happy eating.

The End!
The exams have come to an end for 2,3 and 4th years and we have got solid 40 and odd days to holiday! From the first-year nervousness to 2nd year's 'lite theesko' attitude, we have all come a long way! From 'good/okay' reviews to 'screwed up...When are the supplies?' , we have done them all. The last exam particularly is the most bothersome one. Most people get into the premature holiday mood during this exam and it takes major effort to dumb down the excitement. And, so this exam is invariably the least successful one.
For a few months now we'll all be in peace. The exam day routines-Get up from bed hurriedly, rush to the college, throw bags in the hall, scream "all the best" to friends, show the hall ticket to the 'checkers', walk up to the exam hall, wait for a Q-paper which always comes a good 15 minutes late, signal to your same-set-frens about how the paper is, borrow pencil n scale, write up as much crap as your mind could make up, catch your flying hall-ticket/Q paper, pick up your fallen pen, take numerous additionals and finally pack up n leave-they are all finally done with. Now what you do with your all-in-ones and Q papers is just a matter of imagination ;) My fren would always tear up the Q paper(sometimes borrow mine too!) into tiny bits and pieces and spray them all along the road back .Even poor ES paper wasnt spared! I guess there is a certain mad joy to ending it up your way, seeing it being destroyed while cursing the guy who set the paper!!
However the exams-good bad and ugly, holidays are meant for throwing your cares up in the air!Save your excuses and explainations for result-time. 'Cause for now, countless movies, non-stop chatting, sight kotting at Imax ;) and yea..who can forget The sleep...just go out there and do your thing.Have fun guys.
Keep visiting us and mailing. And for my first-year buddies..."All the best!"

As majority ppl wanted it
The blog's resolution has been changed to suit the width being used by people using the resolution 1024 x 768. This change is as a result of the latest poll conducted. Majority are using 1024 x 768 hence a change in the blog's width has been made.
The poll suggested that 12 ppl preferred 1024 against ,6 who wanted 1280, while 1-2 votes going to other resolutions.
people just do suggest us if u would like to see any visual changes to the blog.
Peace.

Lost in thoughts
Two more exams and we, second years are done with the externals!! Exams were bad as ever and one day batting doesn't seem to help that much.An expected of 2 months holidays seems interesting. Its happy to know that the exams are over, but at the same time it makes me depressed realizing that two years are over in a beautiful journey of my engineering life. It also hard to digest that the real fun is no more gonna be there.
The tension of being ragged, bunking classes, making new friends, sweet crushes, few heart breaks, horrifying lab externals, the unforgettable Fresher’s party, finally falling in love with engineering life…. This is what first year is for many students out there.
Then came 2-1, feeling big, all excited, ragging, bunking, sports, some more sweet crushes and few more heart breaks ;-) , exams, preparing for one rocking Fresher’s party, few more exams, and so on. But things change a lot in 2-2 .....
The only big thing about 2-2 is the Fresher's party, organizing it, planning it and finally enjoying it to the max!!! and when the fresher's party is done....things get real slow.Bunking went down, also the overall fun factor has gone down, ppl takes sides, and it is no longer a big gang of friends but, groups of friends. People don’t find college interesting somehow. Yet the only reason that keeps them coming to college is attendance. All this only after fresher's party!!! Finally before we even realize second year is almost over there come the externals. Lab externals were irritating!! :-( of course there was this ASI educational tour where we had some fun.
Over all 2-2 hasn't been good for me....
I don’t know if this is the way everyone out there feels or it is only me who is feeling this way. But anyhow I started this post thinkin of writing about the exams and how things were for me in the exams ,but don’t know my mind just lost into thoughts about all that happened during these two years of my life in this small world called “IARE”.
Third year and ahead I hope everything goes well for us. We have some interesting things coming up ahead of us like the, starting of the CSI student chapter, the exciting educational tour, Alumni association being formed which promises to provide some technical help to students with the help of ex-students.
I hope to take active part, through this blog, in helping people get help from the ex-students, like Shravan doing his M.S at University of California Santa Barbara, have offered help and also suggested few ideas to implement it properly. Also the Alumni would give me to do something to my co-students which I consider a great opportunity.
Sorry folks for a heavy (boring) post, next post will surely rock, cos by then we’ll b done with our exams!!!
wishing you all good luck!!!

Halloa !!!
I really never miss looking at that inviting message which appears over and over without getting tired once you have started with www.ouriare.blogspot.com .I am always excited about this blog and never miss to visit it ,to know all the wonderful things happening in our college.
Especially for a person like me this is really a refreshing piece.
"I love my college" and I don't mind if I will have to spend some more energy in adding to the above statement that
"my college is the best",I am sure that this blog will be one of the reasons where I will open my mouth to tell something interesting about our college IARE.
I really appreciate your work for this blog and congratulate you(initiators) for your very thought of adding all special instances for our college making it something new, noticeable and memorable.
Like every pleasant soul in the college, even I am happy about the best happenings in our college.
The blue paint, those circular rings around the trees, the renewed canteen, principals cabin, the basketball court and last but not the least ,the blog" Life in Institute Of Aeronautical Engineering"..which i would like to call "the fragrance after rain".
This blog really adds a testimonial to the quote "The joy God gave to you is meant to be shared with others".Believe me, you people have done a good job.
With the same spirits, enthusiasm and faithfulness towards this go ahead..and surely this gonna be a grand success.

Are you searching for api doc?
Helo folks,
Now for all those people who work with JAVA , you know that api doc provides all the necessary help and information about everything present in JAVA. But sometimes getting this api doc is pretty tough and that is why I got this post for you.
Here is widget (a light weighted application) that u can download and use it on ur system. What it basically does is it provides a small search box(trust me very small 2-3 inches), in which you can search for the necessary topic, like it might be about String class... just enter String class and hit search... it'll open the SUN MICROSYSTEM official website and open the api doc directly, which if done manually takes lot of time....
of course only useful for those who really using Java and want to use it extensively.
This is the link
http://widgets.yahoo.com/widgets/classapi
and those of you who have no damn clue about what this api doc is, just try it out it'll help u a lot in writing a java program.
