Exams-The OU way.

JNTU has brought down the axe and it has hit us real hard with its full-on change in the pattern of examinations. The changes will be effective this semester onwards and will be applicable to all the years. They go thus...

1.Each day of the internal exams will consist of 2 sessions each for a subject.
Timings : 10-12 and 2-4 p.m
2.Each session has 2 parts- Objective type and subjective type.
3.Objective paper(for 20 marks)will be conducted for a duration of 20 mins and will consist of multiple choice, fill in the blanks,T/F and match type questions.
4.The Subjective paper(for 20 marks, 90 mins) will consist of 6 Qs of which 4 have to answered.
5.Both the desc. and obj. papers will consist of 4 sets, each with a different bunch of Qs.
6.Loaning and interchanging of articles during the exam is not allowed.
7.Students are not permitted to leave the hall till the end of the exam.

The CSE HoD's words come to my mind "JNTU has done this because their leniency has been misused". Hacked online papers, leaked internal papers to mention a few of the taken-for-granted tactics.
Perhaps the major advantage of this schedule is the scraping of the online exams(which were just beginning to yeild 20/20s).Also, not to forget, you gotto do the real studying this time.Upto you to make the system work for you!
Good luck everyone.

Rite now!!!

Well...We are back with the latest buzz doing round the college...Read on!!!

First of all the news of all that happened after the protests on the campus...The next day our principal called up a meeting with the 2nd year CSE people in the seminar hall and tried giving explanation but then the boy's mama turned up with the TRS guy and again the meeting went in vain...The classwork for CSE 2nd years didnt carry on as usual for the next two days but now everything's rite as the principal of Malla Reddy college has resigned and our principal has refused to take any further step until the police investigation points to him in anyway...

Our college has been witnessing things that weren't even heard of in the past...After the CSI, we recently had Mr. Rodicks holding an workshop in our college. This gentleman is an expert aero modeller havin a considerable experience...The participants were given ideas on how things are made up...They even made some of them in the workshop that stretched for two days...

After the first internal exams of the freshers, now the danger lurks for the seniors as they await their results with their fingers crossed...Not a day passes when this terrible thing isint mentioned...With the rumour mills working at their best we can expect the results to be out this minute instead of waiting for days...Well but the news is that the supplementary exams are not gonna be held as usual in January but instead they r gonna be after the semester exams giving a break of just 1 week to prepare...Sounds like OU...

The sports scenario in the college has seen a sudden rise as the registers of the sports rooms are taking more entries each day...This, I suppose, is because of the lake being completely dry and renewed hopes that sports would happen just the same...Recently volleyball and throw ball has witnessed a new high with crowds standing there for hours witnessing the practise sessions... Girls can be seen doing their part as they come in with the throw ball...Cricket is being played in the area where the lake used to be mossy at its best...Basketball is just the same as it never lost its patriots...lake or no lake...

The canteen has now more to offer with even non vegetarian on their menu...Non - veggies can now enjoy the "Chicken Fried Rice" being offered at the canteen at a price of Rs. 25 per plate.Lets wait for the day when we have pizzas and sushi's on the list ;-)

Finally the management has decided to hold the management freshers party on Saturday that is 27th of December. The notices have gone up to all the concerned classes and the preparations are in a full swing...Seniors leaving no stone unturned to make a memorable day for freshers...The schedule goes thus that the juniors and seniors will have a "interactive session" from 10 am to 1pm and then on a DJ has been roped in to make the day till the buses leave....

So friends this is all the college has to offer these days...We are sorry for the long time no see thing...Promise to be back at the earliest with some more about our IARE!!!

Protests

The death of a CSE 2nd year student, Sai Kiran during the late hours of Saturday, 7th Dec, led to protests in front of college by all the students demanding justice be done.
The real reason behind his death(suicide or otherwise?) has not yet been confirmed although we have learned of the circumstances he was in. The story goes thus...

Kiran had gone to Malla reddy college on saturday posing as a student of that college. He was later caught by the authorities while trying to sneak out a text book from their library. The complaint against him was taken to our principal, P.C.Rao sir for which sir asked them to take whatever action they felt he deserved since he was caught on their premises. The boy's parents were also contacted and asked to report to the MR college.
The rest of story has various versions. The boy, it seems later contacted his family and said he would come home. However, when his mother reached the college, he had by then left and did not return home that night. The next morning, his dead body(in a very gruesome condition) was found on the train tracks.

What was on his mind?
We'll never know what really happened towards the end. Whether it was the MR college authorities who shouted at him or his parents' scoldings over the phone that caused him to go into such a depressed state of mind. One can only guess what was most likely to have happened.

Monday Dec 08 '08
The following day, in the college, no student who knew of the incident, entered the college.
Everyone collected before the gates and the slogan "We want justice" was repeatedly voiced.
ABVP activists, media and some TRS people found their way to the lead of the Dharna.
What did everyone want?
Many were against the principal's way of throwing the matter off his hands. Most said,"He should have dealt with the student instead of leaving the matter to MR people","He must be sacked". Everyone wanted an explanation from P.C Rao sir himself, but he did not turn up infront of the crowd.
Secondly, an explanation of what actually transpired in the MR college was needed.
Politics?
A few members of the TRS political party involved in the proceedings. A guy among them lived close by Kiran's house and had therefore come. They merely tried to sensationalize the whole affair.
Media?
A less known media house came to cover the protests and were completely anti-princi in their reports.
Police?
The SI of dundigal, came along and took statements from Kiran's close freinds.
Faculty?
Sharma sir, very admirably tried to negotiate with all the students.
Principal?
For all those of you who think our principal sumgly locked himself up in the college because 'he didin't give a damn' are wrong. Sir was infact dealing with some unruly TRS guys and got quite nervous. He was adviced to not come out, in fear of being mobbed by students.
MR college?
After about an hour of sitting outside the college gates, everyone began dispersing. Sharma sir, convinced most students to disappear from the scene and head to the buses and go back home.
A few students along with princi sir then made their to MR college to discuss the situation.
There too, TRS people and the boy's mama disrupted the discussions by demanding compensatory money for the death. They asked for a good 20 lakhs! Our princi sir was unnerved by their behaviour and left the place.

What now??
The matter hopefully won't be rested till the real reasons are out

CSI - A Start

Today, some of the cobwebs,so familiar to all the student chapters coming up in our college, were dusted off the CSI(Computer Society of India) student branch. Although the college's CSI branch was recognised by the CSI,Hyderabad and we were even issued a fanciful, laminated certificate for the same way back in september, only now have things started to appear brighter for the society.

During the last hour, today,a crude voting was done to elect the administration team from among the volunteer students. All the students who had joined the chapter(read, paid money for it in April), were assembled in the seminar hall and a 'supporters, raise your hands' poll was conducted for each post. At the end of the day,we got an admirable team of leaders.
President: Kunal,CSE 3A
Vice President: Bindu CSE 3B
Secretary: Rahul CSE 2A
Treasurer: Vijay CSE 3A

As per KVN Murthy sir, the inaugural function for the chapter will be held within the following 2 weeks. Soon after, the chapter must spring into action with PPTs, seminars and what-nots, with an event being held every month.
With every pair of my fingers crossed, I hope CSI will stand up to its word, and yes, those of us who are the members must co-operate in every way, so that it does not go the ASI way.
Best Wishes.
