Protests

The death of a CSE 2nd year student, Sai Kiran during the late hours of Saturday, 7th Dec, led to protests in front of college by all the students demanding justice be done.
The real reason behind his death(suicide or otherwise?) has not yet been confirmed although we have learned of the circumstances he was in. The story goes thus...

Kiran had gone to Malla reddy college on saturday posing as a student of that college. He was later caught by the authorities while trying to sneak out a text book from their library. The complaint against him was taken to our principal, P.C.Rao sir for which sir asked them to take whatever action they felt he deserved since he was caught on their premises. The boy's parents were also contacted and asked to report to the MR college.
The rest of story has various versions. The boy, it seems later contacted his family and said he would come home. However, when his mother reached the college, he had by then left and did not return home that night. The next morning, his dead body(in a very gruesome condition) was found on the train tracks.

What was on his mind?
We'll never know what really happened towards the end. Whether it was the MR college authorities who shouted at him or his parents' scoldings over the phone that caused him to go into such a depressed state of mind. One can only guess what was most likely to have happened.

Monday Dec 08 '08
The following day, in the college, no student who knew of the incident, entered the college.
Everyone collected before the gates and the slogan "We want justice" was repeatedly voiced.
ABVP activists, media and some TRS people found their way to the lead of the Dharna.
What did everyone want?
Many were against the principal's way of throwing the matter off his hands. Most said,"He should have dealt with the student instead of leaving the matter to MR people","He must be sacked". Everyone wanted an explanation from P.C Rao sir himself, but he did not turn up infront of the crowd.
Secondly, an explanation of what actually transpired in the MR college was needed.
Politics?
A few members of the TRS political party involved in the proceedings. A guy among them lived close by Kiran's house and had therefore come. They merely tried to sensationalize the whole affair.
Media?
A less known media house came to cover the protests and were completely anti-princi in their reports.
Police?
The SI of dundigal, came along and took statements from Kiran's close freinds.
Faculty?
Sharma sir, very admirably tried to negotiate with all the students.
Principal?
For all those of you who think our principal sumgly locked himself up in the college because 'he didin't give a damn' are wrong. Sir was infact dealing with some unruly TRS guys and got quite nervous. He was adviced to not come out, in fear of being mobbed by students.
MR college?
After about an hour of sitting outside the college gates, everyone began dispersing. Sharma sir, convinced most students to disappear from the scene and head to the buses and go back home.
A few students along with princi sir then made their to MR college to discuss the situation.
There too, TRS people and the boy's mama disrupted the discussions by demanding compensatory money for the death. They asked for a good 20 lakhs! Our princi sir was unnerved by their behaviour and left the place.

What now??
The matter hopefully won't be rested till the real reasons are out

As far as I have understood the situation, its really sad that everything except the core matter is being talked and fought.

The only thing the whole of IARE expects is that the people who are responsible for this mus b punished, whether they led to this directly r indirectly.

but unfortunately, the youth leaders and few excited students are draggin and taking the things out of proportions.

but finally , Let justice prevail and let the culprits be punished.

peace!

The principal must get to know and reveal what transpired in MR.Such an incident is totally unfortunate and adding political color to it will only disrepute the college which in turn will adversely affect the students. The principal could've dealt with the situation in a much sensible way than leaving the whole thing to the MR authorities..
But blaming him solely until the true version is out is not correct. We don't know the role of the parents and the MR authorities as yet..

I hope things are back to normal and the classes have resumed..
