Hi GUYS/GALS,
Most of us might not remember 30th August 2009.it was the day when Chandrayaan -1 mission was called off. Much unexpected news was telecasted, but it was said that Chandrayaan has accomplished 95% of its objective. Chandrayaan -1 launched on 22nd October 2008, was declared two years mission which is abruptly ended now. (THIS IMAGE IS OF MOON SENT BY CHANDRAYAAN)
BLUE shows the signature of water,
GREEN shows the brightness of the surface as measured by reflected infrared radiation from the sun
RED shows an iron-bearing mineral called pyroxene
Chandrayaan-1 had completed more than 3400 revolutions around the moon. It had dispatched over 70,000 images of the moon surface. Overall, during its ten months of existence, Chandrayaan -1 completed 312 days in orbit and provided large amount of data
Now again news flashed that the images which Chandrayaan gave, traced out water on the moon surface.
NASA’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3), carried by Chandrayaan under a joint project by Nasa and Isro last October, had discovered water on the moon's surface. NASA thanked ISRO for this gr8 discovery.
I FEEL PROUD THAT THIS HAS BEEN DISCOVERED BY INDIA.
Another good news is................................
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning 2nd moon mission Chandrayaan-2 in 2013. Russia's Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos) is joining with ISRO for development of Chandrayaan-2 Lander/Rover.
This second unmanned lunar exploration mission proposed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is projected cost of Rs. 425 crore (US$ 90 million) {Remember earlier one costs Rs. 386 crore (US$ 80 million)}
Chandrayaan-2 will consist of the spacecraft and a landing platform with the moon rover.
The rover would move on wheels on the lunar surface, pick up samples of soil or rocks, do a chemical analysis and send the data to the spacecraft orbiting above.
